Jennifer Garner is a West Virginia native who was born in Houston on the 17th of April, 1972. William John Garner served as an engineer for Union Carbide. Patricia Ann was a teacher at the local college. In order to continue in the footsteps of her father she earned a degree as a chemical engineer. Then she moved into New York in order to fulfill her ambitions as an actor. Chefs were employed at a New York restaurant and was a part of Broadway productions. In the TV series "Felicity," she had one brief appearance. (It was on this show where she became acquainted with their husband Scott Foley. Garner made her mark in the romantic comedy "13 Goin' on 30" where she played a teenager trapped in an adult's body. Garner chose Gary Winick as the director of her film. They continued looking for new projects after Winick's demise in 2011. Garner was named an artist ambassador to Save the Children U.S.A. In addition to the promotion of the importance of early education, literacy as well as nutrition at a local level, the role of Garner also includes promotion of nationwide literacy. Since 2014, Garner has been a part of the board of trustees for this organization, pushing for early childhood education. Being a part of the Early Steps to School Success (EASS) team of ambassadors for the program, Garner visits families regularly to coach them on ways to encourage their young children to achieve.
